New Ends Restoration Home for Women
OUR MISSION is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the gift of music and songwriting to prisons, shelters and churches wherever God will open a door and to maintain and provide a healthy, productive and Godly environment for women coming directly out of prison. To offer assistance in life skill development and personal growth through education opportunities, in a Godly manner, and in-depth Bible study. To develop the life skills needed to re-enter society as productive citizens in their church, family and community and to use their experience, in a positive way, to be an example to others of what God can do in any person’s life.
Paul and Trudy were both born and raised in Southern California in the early 1950’s. They met through a paper ad in the Los Angeles Tribune when Paul was looking for musicians to start a country western band. Trudy was only 15 years old and was looking for a surf board at the time when she came across the very small advertisement. Against the thought of having a girl in the band, Paul agreed for Trudy to audition for the group. Neither one knew any song the other one knew at the audition except for one and that was “Dream” by the Everly Brothers.
While singing into one microphone and looking into each others eyes their fate was sealed. It truly was love at first sight. The first band called New West performed for the Los Angeles County Fair and VFW hospitals during the wounded soldier return from the Vietnam War. In 1969 Paul and Trudy married and began their lives together in the music industry going on to perform at various venues in the Los Angeles area. While continuing to pursue careers in music they became serious writers and produced several records.
In the 70’s they started their family and within three years had two sons. They became full-time bar musicians traveling on tour from California through Colorado and New Mexico actually living out of a suitcase and raising their small boys on the road. In 1975 they were getting ready to have another baby and returned to California for the birth of their third son.Paul could not find work in LA so they knew they could return to New Mexico and find work due to the Uranium boom there at the time. With a worn out mattress frame strapped to the top of an old 65 station wagon and three little boys asleep in the back seat, they pulled into a small motel in Grants New Mexico. They lived there for three months, washed clothes in the tub and cooked in a popcorn maker. Broke with a three month old baby that was very sick, thank God the doctor in town came and delivered the medicine at no charge. The first place Paul went to get work hired him and he stayed at that job for 23 years. Who would have known at that time that there would be three major prisons built in that little town one day? God knew exactly what he was doing with Paul and Trudy from the very beginning. They combated against alcohol addiction and the near loss of their son and won through a personal relationship with Christ.In the early 90’s Paul and Trudy surrendered their lives totally and their music to the Lords work. And started going to the prisons throughout the state of New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oklahoma, through the South and on to the East Coast. God even sent them to prisons in Thailand. In 2000 they became full-time prison music ministers and provide up to 23 services each month. They also have 10 beautiful grandchildren.
In 2005 they opened a Christian Restoration Home for Women called "New Ends", a nine- month structured life-skill program which allows women coming directly out of prison to get their lives rooted in God and His Word and re-built in becoming productive individuals for themselves, families and communities they live in. Since that time 23 women have come through those doors at no-charge and for the most part have become very successful in regaining and maintaining a powerful personal relationship with Jesus Christ!
